Bad UI Elements

UI & Coding
Project Overview
As a active Reddit user, I only recently stumbled across my new favorite subreddit: r/badUIbattles. This page is dedicated to building and sharing interactive UI elements that do the exact opposite of what is intended by being both comically bad and impractical. Some of my favorites from this page are a keyboard where the keys change location after every letter, and a phone number input that works by rolling dice.
My Contributions
I really loved the idea of designing intentionally bad UI elements, because for me it highlighted the importance of human expectation in design. I think people have become accustomed to the "normal" ways in which UI elements work (button clicks, volume sliders, loading spinners), and so being able to create something that goes against expectations is a fun challenge. These projects are created using HTML/CSS, and Javascript, so it is the perfect way to practically learn and grow my skills.
Currently, I am working on creating a volume bar that is controlled by your mouse location, and a video that only plays if you hover on specific areas. These projects are still a work in progress. Don't hesitate to reach out if you would like to see the current version or want more information.
